Mercedes will show a concept S-Class convertible at the Detroit motor show in January 2007, according to auto motor und sport’s website.

At over five meters long and with four doors, the car will have the largest fabric roof of any car in recent history.

The interior design, it is reported, will be pure luxury – reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz 300 series of the 1950s.

No further information is available.

Industry analysts say that a low-volume production version of the concept could surface for the 2009 model year, although much depends on reaction to the concept next year.
