Mercedes-Benz will show a diesel hybrid version of its new S-Class upper-premium sedan at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
The S-Class hybrid concept likely will be an evolution of Mercedes’ P1/2 hybrid system that debuted at the Detroit motor show in January on an outgoing S-Class model.
Mercedes’ parent DaimlerChrysler is co-operating with General Motors to develop hybrid technology. Mercedes’ role is to focus on hybrid drives for rear-wheel luxury vehicles.
At the IAA, Mercedes also will show a CLK premium roadster with a mild hybrid powertrain with an integrated starter generator.
