Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz Cars sold 783,520 vehicles in the first half of 2014, up 12.8% year on year, and a company record tally for the period.
June sales rose 8% to 142,136 cars.
“The first half of the year was extremely successful for us,” said marketing and sales chief Ola Källenius. “With the unit sales of our vehicles, we are on track to make 2014 into yet another record year.”
European sales rose 7.4% to 352,198 vehicle with UK sales up 17.8% and Switzerland 7.7%. Mercedes was top premium brand in Germany though sales inched up just 0.7% to 125,215.
Half year South Africa sales rose 10.3% to 11,388 units.
Chinese sales were up 37.5% to 135,972 units.
