Hyundai sales in Europe rose 30.3% to a record 20,367 units in August.
Getz subcompact hatchback volume was up 25% to 5,680 units, and the brand claimed growth of 52.5% in the SUV segment thanks to the launch of the new Tucson in several European countries alongside the established Santa Fe.
For January through August, Hyundai sales of 225,029 were ahead of the same period in 2003 by 20.9%.
Hyundai was official car supplier to the recent Olympic Games in Athens, and its 3,700 vehicles made 850,000 trips and covered seven million kilometres in two and a half weeks.
The vehicles were used to transport athletes, members of the organising committee and VIPs, and also transported the athletes’ equipment to various event locations.
