Bernd Gottschalk is likely to remain president of the German motor industry trade association, Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA), for a further two years, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sunday newspaper.
The association’s annual general meeting will be held on 27 October in Munich, but no new candidates are standing for the position, or have been considered by the managing board of the VDA.
Gottschalk was elected as president of the VDA on 18 October, 1996.
He is also vice president of the Federation of the German Industry (BDI) and chairman of the BDI’s transport committee, president of the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA) in Paris, and vice president of the Deutsches Verkehrsforum (German transport forum).
