General Motors plans to build a European car design centre at the Ruesselsheim HQ of its Adam Opel subsidiary in Germany, Dow Jones Newswires reported, citing the Friday edition of Handelsblatt which cited sources close to the company.

Between 300 to 400 jobs will be generated by the design centre, which should become operational in 2005, Handelsblatt reportedly said.
Up until now General Motors-owned brands have been designed separately in individual markets, the paper said, according to Dow Jones.
