Opel’s supervisory board has named Thomas Sedran deputy chairman of the management board. He will act as chairman until a permanent chairman is in place.

Sedran has been board member in charge of operations, business development & corporate strategies since April and retains those responsibilities.

“We will continue to implement our business plan as it was outlined and work to improve it. We will further reduce bureaucracy and continue to challenge the corporate culture,” said supervisory board chairman and GM-Europe president Steve Girsky.

Deputy supervisory board chairman and head of the Opel works council Wolfgang Schäfer-Klug said: “The new team around Steve Girsky stands for a change that Opel/Vauxhall urgently needs: leaner management structures, transparency, accountability and enforcement capability. This will put Opel back on a growth path.”
