General Motors Europe unit Opel will transfer 952 jobs to external suppliers this year.

Handelsblatt, citing the head of Opel’s works council Klaus Franz, was quoted in a Thomson Financial News report on Monday.

Franz reportedly said Opel has pledged staff affected by the move would continue to work at the group’s sites. Management and employee representatives are in the final stages of negotiations over the move.

Opel managing director Hans Demant confirmed the company is in negotiations with employee representatives but declined to comment further, Handelsblatt said.
