German newspapers are reporting that Ford Germany’s head Rolf Zimmermann will step down before his contract runs out. The reports say that Ford-Werke AG’s sales head Bernhard Mattes will replace him.

The reports add that the Ford unit will formally make a decision on a replacement at a supervisory board meeting being held this Thursday (September 12).

Zimmermann told Bild am Sonntag he was ready to start a new life for himself after meeting his goals as head of the German unit.

“I had set myself some personal goals, and I have met them,” he told the newspaper. “Now I’d like to lead a new life.”
