Ford has built the first updated C-Max at its Saarlouis plant in Germany.

The automaker spent EUR60m (US$64.8m) gearing the plant up for the facelifted C-Max and Grand C-Max and both are now in full production.

“The variety of drive options and assistance systems that are available for the new C-Max underline the versatility of this compact MPV, and demonstrate the great flexibility in our vehicle production in Saarlouis,” said plant manager Dominique Maessen.

“Both are produced on the same production line in addition to the Focus sedan, wagon, ST and the Focus Electric.”

The latest C-Max models now offer an hands-free tailgate, new perpendicular parking system and improved active city stop collision avoidance technology that now works at speeds of up to 50kmph. The 1.5-litre EcoBoost and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engines, including a 99g/km CO2 litre ECOnetic, are new to the range.
