Ford Europe said its sales volume increases in March and the first quarter of 2014 outpaced the overall market.
Industry sales volumes in the 20 markets the automaker tracks (where it has NSCs) grew 10% in March and 8% in the first quarter, the blue oval outpaced that with 12% and 11% sales volumes increases, respectively.
Sales volumes to European retail and fleet customers increased by 1% to 73% of total sales in the first quarter, 2% above industry average. Sales in less profitable market segments – such as daily rentals and dealer registrations – declined year on year to 27% from 28% a year ago.
Sales in the UK – the brand’s biggest European market by sales volume – grew by 13% in March and 11% in the first quarter. In Germany, sales improved by 19% in March and 24% in the first quarter, while market share was up 0.8% in March and 1.0% year to date.
Commercial vehicle sales totalled about 50,000 in the first quarter, up 10%. CV market share was 10.4%, up 0.2% and the highest since 1998.
