“BMW decided to ask every client (affected) to bring their cars back to the garage,” a company spokesman told Reuters, which noted the car maker could not estimate how many vehicles are involved.
Audi and Mercedes were also supplied with defective diesel fuel-injection pumps, the report added.
Reuters said the faulty component doesn’t represent a safety risk, according to the car makers, but does cause the engine to stall after a significant amount of mileage.
