E-class saloon models posted sales of 19,200 units in July, up 34% while estate sales quadrupled. Deliveries of the high-end S-class increased 47%.

Sales chief Joachim Schmidt said: “Overall we want to grow at a double-digit rate with Mercedes-Benz in 2010.”  He added that additional momentum would come this autumn from new models such as the upcoming R-class as well as new six and eight-cylinder petrol engines.

The success of the E- and S-class models have been an important factor behind Mercedes’ 9.8% operating margin in the second quarter, so a sales mix rich with lucrative high-end models would indicate another month of strong earnings for Daimler’s luxury car brand.
