A decision about whether Mercedes will sell Smart cars in the US will be made in May, according to dpa-AFX.
Klaus Maier, head of sales and marketing at Mercedes, told Automobilwoche magazine that a decision will be made in the next four to six weeks.
Maier also reportedly denied speculation that the Smart would be sold as a Dodge entry model.
A private importer recently began delivering Smart Fortwo models to US dealers. The cars are sourced from European dealers and adapted in the US to meet Federal regulations.
