DaimlerChrysler will hold an extraordinary meeting of its supervisory board on 13 February to discuss plans to restructure Chrysler.

Dpa-AFX news reported that the meeting has been scheduled to review Chrysler performance figures for 2006, ahead of the company’s scheduled annual press conference on 14 February.

Chrysler’s chief executive Tom LaSorda has said previously he wants to present his restructuring ideas for the US subsidiary by the end of February.

Losses of $1.5bn in the third quarter because of weakness in US operations prompted the automaker to develop a deep restructuring plan. The company is reportedly looking to cuts costs by $US1,000 per vehicle in North America.
