DaimlerChrysler chief executive Jurgen Schrempp on Tuesday reiterated that the company was on track to meet its operating profit goal this year, despite a tough US market, Reuters reported.
“We still believe that we can achieve around five billion euros at the operating level,” Schrempp told the news agency on the sidelines of the Frankfurt motor show.
If US unit Chrysler, struggling to return to long-term profits after a deep second-quarter loss, posted a worse-than-expected result, this would be compensated for by improvements in other areas, Schrempp told Reuters.
The news agency noted that Chrysler currently expects to post a small operating profit this year, but has said risks remain due to the difficult market situation in the United States.
