DaimlerChrysler on Tuesday said it was examining filing damage claims against Japanese partner Mitsubishi over quality problems at its truck and bus unit Fuso.

A Daimler spokesman told Reuters the company had communicated this to Mitsubishi but declined to detail the size of damages it was considering.

The news agency noted that Fuso, in which Daimler acquired a majority this spring, said in late May it would recall 170,000 vehicles due to defects that had been concealed for the past eight years.
