Daimler has reportedly cancelled short-time working at its Rastatt plant due to increasing demand for small cars.

Reports in Germany say that the Sindelfingen site will also be switched partly to full-time work as well.

The Rastatt plant makes the A-Class and B-Class models. Short-time working was introduced at the beginning of the year to prevent stockpiling as car demand in Europe collapsed.

However, Germany’s car market has seen a resurgence since on the back of an EUR2,500 scrappage incentive. In April, Germany’s car market was 19% ahead of last year.
