Daimler booked a EUR2.2bn net profit in the second quarter of 2012 after boosting unit sales 4% to 628,900 and revenue 6% to EUR31.5bn. EBIT rose 12% to EUR2.5bn.
Net profit of EUR4.6bn in Q2 2013 was positively affected by the sale of EADS shares.
“We are growing profitably, our strategy is bearing fruit,” chairman Dieter Zetsche said. “Unit sales, revenue and EBIT from the ongoing business will all increase significantly in 2014.”
The EBIT rise was due to a better model mix and further efficiency gains but exchange-rate effects again hit operating profit.
Mercedes-Benz Cars unit sales grew 3% to 418,700 units.
