Rupert Stadler(43), current CFO of Audi, is likely to succeed Martin Winterkorn as head of Audi.
German press reports at the weekend from dpa-AFX news agency and the financial newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagzeitung both come to this conclusion following conversations with people close to the Audi supervisory board.
The supervisory board meets this Wednesday, 6th December, to decide who will be its next CFO. Martin Winterkorn moves across to become CEO of the Volkswagen Group from January 1, 2007.
Previous press reports had speculated that Stadler might also have been offered the CFO job at Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen Group CFO is currently Hans Dieter Pötsch.
Head of manufacturing at Audi, Jochem Heizmann, has been rumoured to be the other main contender for the top Audi job. According to German automotive industry publication, Automobilwoche, he will fill a newly created position as head of manufacturing for the Volkswagen Group.
