Chinese carmaker Build Your Dreams (BYD) plans to locate its European headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, following the example of Chinese rival Brilliance.
BYD sales chief Henry Li said earlier a German site for the European HQ was attractive. The actual location will be officially announced an the end of the year, Li has said.
BYD plans to become the first Chinese firm to sell electric and hybrid vehicles in Europe in 2011. Its links with Daimler and Volkswagen put it ahead ahead of Brilliance whose European activities so far are limited primarily to spare parts supply, Financial Times Deutschland noted.
Changan Automobile said yesterday it was establishing a UK research and development centre in Nottingham, England, creating up to 200 new jobs over the next three years.
