BMW chairman Helmut Panke has told German car magazine ‘auto motor und sport’ that he sees room for new models positioned between the BMW 7-series and the Rolls-Royce Phantom, reported dpa-AFX news agency.

He suggested a car costing around EUR250,000 could slot in the gap, although he doubted whether this could be branded BMW.

He also said that BMW is considering a sports ‘M’ version of the 7-Series, although no decision has been made yet.

BMW has two major new models in the pipeline for launch around 2008. They are a crossover model and a ‘raumfunktionales Konzept’ or MPV-style model.
