BMW Group recorded its best ever February sales figures last month with 151,952 vehicles delivered worldwide including the Mini and Rolls-Royce brands.

A total of 151,952 sales was 7.6% ahead of last year and the group has already delivered 274,113 vehicles since the start of this year, an increase of 7.3% over 2014.

Sales and marketing head Ian Robertson said: “We’ve had a good start to the year with February setting another sales record. I am confident that our fresh model line up, including the new BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer and the updated 1 Series we’ve just premiered at the Geneva show, will provide the momentum to keep us growing in 2015.”

BMW brand sales during February totalled 131,416, up 5.2% with strong demand for the 2 Series of which 7,302 vehicles were delivered. Sales of electrified i vehicles totalled 2,165 in February with 1,824 i3s and 341 i8s delivered.

Following the hatchback model change (including a new five door option) last year, Mini saw sales rise 27.1% to 20,303 and 2015 has seen the best start to the year in the brand’s history with 37,678 delivered to customers in the first two months, an increase of 19.7% compared to the same period last year.

Globally, the group achieved higher sales in all regions and year to date figures were also up around the world. BMW and Mini brand sales in Europe rose 7% in February, totalling 64,685 with growth in all European markets. The German market saw registrations in February increase by 13.3% compared with the same month last year to 20,660.

In the Americas the brands continued a strong start to the year with sales in the region up 13.8% in February to 34,698. North America was the region’s biggest growth driver with sales of 28,921, up 18.2% over the same month last year.

In Asia February sales rose 4.1% over last year to 47,154 while deliveries in mainland China totalled 31,089, up 2.7%.
