BMW group sales of 97,513 vehicles in July were 4.6% higher than in the same month last year.
In Western Europe, 7.9% more cars, 57,829, were delivered than in the previous year. In Germany, the increase over July 2003 was 13.0%, reaching 23,357 units.
Worldwide, 688,510 vehicles were sold in the first seven months of the year, an increase of 7.9%.
Sales of the BMW brand rose in July by 6.5% to 81,502 vehicles. For the period ending July, the increase is 8.6%, to 577,010.
Sales of Mini brand vehicles declined in July but BMW said this had been planned due to production changeovers at the Oxford plant, which had become necessary as a result both of the launch of convertible versions in July and revisions to the hatchback line. For the first time since the range was launched in 2001, fewer Minis were delivered in a month than in the previous year – 4.5% down to 15,972 units in July.

Rolls-Royce supplied 358 Phantoms to customers to the end of July this year, taking sales above the level of the entire previous year (300). 39 were delivered in July.
Sales of motorcycles were slightly up in July, after weaker sales in the first half year due to model cycle factors. Compared with the same month last year, the number of motorcycles delivered to customers rose by 0.9% to 9,852 units. For the period up to and including July, sales, at 58,412, were still 4.8% below the level of last year.
