BMW Group sales rose 7.6% to 129,094 vehicles worldwide while the seven-month tally was up 17.9% to 962,468 units.

Sales and marketing chief Ian Robertson said: “We are well on our way to achieving our recently announced target of over 1.6m vehicles in 2011.”

China sales rose 36.1% to 18,858 last month.

Double-digit growth was also achieved in emerging markets Brazil (1,121/+22.1%), Russia (2,560 vehicles/+53.9%), India (840 vehicles/+57%) and in Korea (2,475 vehicles/+94.9%).

BMW brand sales rose 7.1% to 108,721 units in July and 16.2% to 798,590 year to date.

Mini volume was up 10.5% to 20,153 last month and 27.1% year to date (162,066).
