BMW Group has reported record February sales up 14.2% year on year to 127,634 units. Year to date volume was up 10.5% to 239,800.
BMW brand sales worldwide rose 12.5% to 107,359 last month and 9.3% to 203,545 for the first two months. The automaker noted “particularly strong demand” for X models in February.
Mini sales rose 24.8% to 20,020 in February and 18.6% to 35,788 YTD. The Magna Steyr-built Countryman accounted for over a third of sales in the first two months.
Retail volumes rose on all continents and in virtually all markets in February. In Europe sales remained flat, up just +0.1% to 57,434 units. Asia accounted for 34,701 units, up 34.9%, while sales in the Americas rose 25.9% to 31,025 units.
US sales rose 31.5% to 26,184 units while China volume was up 38.8% to 22,916. Russia retail volumes increased 61.1% to 2,548 units and sales in India rose 18.7% to 736.
