Audi ended the year having sold 964,151 cars, 6.5% more than in 2006 (905,188). Next year it expects to sell 1m units.
The automaker said it posted sales growth in every region. “Our growth in China is particularly remarkable: we’re the first premium carmaker to sell more than 100,000 cars here,” said sales and marketing chief Ralph Weyler.
Audi delivered 686,480 cars in Europe during 2007, an increase of 4.3% over the previous year. In America, sales grew 4.5% to 115,629 units. Of these 93,506 were sold in the US, an increase of 3.8%. 101,996 cars were sold in China, 24.8% more than during the previous year.
Africa and the near and Middle East also showed strong growth with sales up 12.8% to 27,866 vehicles.
Sales were down 1.5% in its domestic market to 254,014, but this was in a market down 9% overall. Market share grew from 7.6% to a record 7.9%.
