An Audi spokesman told Automobilwoche that the pressurised opening and closing mechanisms are inclined to lose power. This could lead to the tailgate closing unprompted, in turn leading to injury.
Audi had a similar problem with the tailgate on the A6 Avant. The opening and closing mechanisms will be checked and new software installed to correct the problem.
