VW group unit Audi sold boosted June sales 19% year on year to 117,650 units thanks to strong sales in Europe.

During the first six months of the year, Audi sold over 652,950 units, up 18%, Dow Jones reported.

Sales in Europe overall rose 15%, helped by France, the UK and Scandinavian regions.

Audi said it was optimistic for the traditionally weaker second half of the year as it was introducing the new A6 Avant [wagon] and Q3 small SUV in Europe.

Earlier this week, the company reported a 28% rise in sales in China and Hong Kong in the first six months while June US sales increased 17%.
