Audi will suspend car and engine production at its plant in Hungary for a week in February.

According to Agence France-Press (AFP), Audi Hungaria in Gyor will close during the week beginning 23 February. No lay-offs are planned at the plant.

Car production had been halted for four weeks in November and engine manufacturing was slowed during December and January.

Gyor is one of the largest engine manufacturing facilities in the world, turning out 1.9m engines in 2008.

Car assembly is a much smaller operation with around 60,000 Audi TT and A3 convertible cars assembled each year.
