This is a nice position to be in, especially when it’s your first serious foray into the luxury SUV segment.
According to Reuters, Audi, the premium vehicle unit of Volkswagen, has received around 10,000 advance orders in Europe alone for its Q7 sport utility vehicle that reaches showrooms on 10 March 10.
That’s a pretty good result for a vehicle so far seen only at motor shows, in brochures and on the internet.
Reuters said the Q7 rolls out first to dealers in German-speaking Europe, Luxembourg and Italy while launch in the key US market follows mid-year.
The basic version of the Q7 – which will compete against the BMW X series and the Mercedes-Benz M-Class – retails at EUR49,000 (US$59,420), according to the report.
