Climate controlled seat maker Amerigon has opened a technical support office in Augsburg, Germany, to provide design services, product development, application engineering and prototype builds to support sales to European automakers.
The Augsburg office, which will also serve as the supplier’s European headquarters, will be headed by Amerigon Europe managing director Marco Ranalli. Ranalli previously headed gobal advanced engineering at EMCON Technologies, now part of Faurecia.
“Expanding into new regional markets with our highly successful seat systems continues to be a goal of ours,” said Amerigon president and CEO Daniel Coker.
“It is our intention to have a stronger presence in Europe so the opening of this office will help us further establish and expand our relationships with a number of key European automotive manufacturers.”
Amerigon’s proprietary climate control seat systems are currently available standard or optional on 49 vehicle lines produced by Ford, General Motors, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai-Kia and Jaguar Land Rover.
The Michigan-based company also has sales and technical support centres in California, Japan, the UK and Korea.
