This is the first time that Mazda has offered a three-door variant of the 2.

Mazda said the three-door – with the same overall dimensions as the five-door – is designed to attract new customers and boost its continued growth in Europe.

It will be offered here with the same 1.3- and 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre turbo diesel engine options as the five-door.

These engines achieve high fuel efficiency together with particularly low CO2 emissions.

At Geneva, Mazda will also display its Taiki concept car, equipped with next-generation rotary engine, the 5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid and the upgraded production RX-8 sports car.

Suzuki will display its concept A-Star, which made its world debut last month at Auto Expo 2008 in New Delhi.

The concept provides clues to the production version of Suzuki’s fifth world strategic model, which is under development – it will be the smallest model in the range after the Splash, Swift, Grand Vitara, and SX4 as Suzuki’s fourth world strategic model.

The Concept Kizashi which was first shown at the 2007 Frankfurt show and the Concept Kizashi 2 first shown at Tokyo will be exhibited together for the first time in Geneva this year.

The Concept Kizashi signals Suzuki’s forthcoming entry into the European D-segment.

“The production model under development will be sporty, sleek, and practical, representing a chance for Suzuki customers to take a step upward in terms of size, performance, and refinement,” Suzuki said.

The automaker also plans to show its SX4 World Rally Championship car ahead of its Monte Carlo event debut and first full season.
