Kia Motors Corporation will launch its short wheelbase Carnival MPV (minivan) at Geneva this month, prior to sales starting this summer.

The Carnival (called the Sedona in some markets) has been fully redesigned and will catch up with leading US and European brand rivals by offering powered twin sliding rear doors and tailgate.

Taller, wider but shorter than the previous model, the new short-wheelbase version has been developed primarily for the European market. The long-wheelbase model is already on sale in North America and some other markets.

The European SWB models will have seven individual seats in a 2+3+2 layout and all five middle and back row seats can be individually moved, reclined, folded or removed.

The new MPV will debut with a choice of 185 ps petrol or diesel engine – both are new designs offering improved performance and economy.
