A van version of the Mini Clubman is set for a global debut at the Geneva motor show. For the moment, BMW Group is silent on the possibility of a production future for the Clubvan concept.

This design study sees the side windows of the Clubman replaced by polycarbon panels, while the glass in the rear doors is darkened. The other major changes consist of the removal of the rear seat and the placement of a partition grille behind the driver and passenger seats. The so-called ‘Clubdoor’ of the Mini Clubman remains on the right-hand side of the car.

BMW suggests that tools and goods can be stored neatly and securely in made-to-measure drawers or shelving units in the concept’s loadbay. Further, there are six attachment loops recessed into the load compartment floor. These use elasticated straps to hold items of varying lengths, heights and widths in place – without the risk of them sliding around. The side walls and floor of the load compartment are trimmed in grey cloth, while the matching headliner extends along the length of the interior.

BMW Group seems likely to launch a production version of the Clubvan later in 2012 as a way of maintaining the current high production levels of the Mini family during the last years of the current shape cars’ model cycles.
