Audi will use the backdrop of the Geneva motor show in March to launch AU576, the new-generation A6 allroad quattro.
The third generation of this model is, as ever, based upon the Avant bodystyle of the standard wheelbase A6. The car will be built at the Neckarsulm plant in Germany, with the German market launch set for April.
Depending on the market, the new A6 allroad is to be available with the Volkswagen Group’s supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine (228kW) as well as the firm’s 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel. The latter will come with the choice of three power outputs: 150, 180 or 230kW.
Audi of America is yet to acknowledge the car’s existence in its media releases so as is the case with the current model, the new A6 allroad quattro seems unlikely to be sold in the US.
The smaller A4 allroad quattro, however, is set to join the US importer’s 2013 model year range later in 2012. In that market, the car will replace the A4 Avant and be marketed as the Audi allroad. The powertrain will consist of a 211hp 2.0-litre turbo I4 (TSI), with drive to all wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
