Chinese automaker GAC Group this week signed a partnership agreement with the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health to develop technology and products for the prevention and control of respiratory diseases, according to local reports.
The two partners have agreed to establish a jointly owned engineering technology centre and a manufacturing facility for products that can help prevent and control respiratory infections.
They will focus their combined R&D efforts on adapting currently available technology and equipment and in developing new technology to develop products that can be used in hospitals, homes, public transportation vehicles and also in public gathering locations.
GAC Group chairman Zeng Qinghong said the two partners would also cooperate in the development of protective devices and sanitising equipment for automobile plants as well as for inside cars.
The Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Health has already established around 50 scientific projects to develop technology to help deal with the novel coronavirus emergency.
