The Chinese company spent an initial US$250m at the factory and took on 800 workers. The plant now covers 2m square feet and employs 2,300 people making safety glass for automakers across North America including General Motors, Ford and Subaru.

The group's local subsidiary, Fuyao Glass America, now has five plants in the US employing 10,000 people and supplying glass mainly for the automotive and construction industries.

This latest spend will be used to acquire additional manufacturing equipment, creating an additional 100 jobs at Moraine.
