Volkswagen plans to introduce 12 new models over the next three years as it seeks to boost sales by a third and challenge Toyota.
VW boss Martin Winterkorn said in Frankfurt that the group’s worldwide deliveries will rise to 8 million vehicles in 2010 from a record 6 million vehicles this year.
VW plans 12 all-new models through 2010 that include a minivan built with Chrysler LLC, a remake of the Scirocco sports hatchback and a compact sport-utility vehicle called the Tiguan.
Chief Financial Officer Hans Dieter Poetsch forecast an increase in profit in 2008 and said Volkswagen planned additional costs cuts next year, without being specific.
Winterkorn said he will seek annual productivity gains of 10 percent.
