Toyota’s plug-in Prius hybrid will make its global debut as a ‘concept’ at the Frankfurt show later this month.
The new model “expands the capabilities of Toyota’s full hybrid technology, enabling pure electric operation for short-range day-to-day transportation. In early 2010, an extensive field trial in Europe will see over 150 units being leased to selected fleet customers,” the automaker said.
It is also launching the Auris (Corolla) HSD full hybrid ‘concept’ which “represents a milestone in Toyota’s strategy: introducing full hybrid technology to a mainstream model, and the first step in the deployment of Hybrid Synergy Drive across the company’s model range.”
The redesigned Land Cruiser, on sale in the fourth quarter of 2009, will make its first European show appearance along with customised iQ show cars, the Sports and Collection.
