Chevrolet will show a new supermini, the Aveo, at Frankfurt next month, introducing the US brand’s now-trademark split grille nose styling to its GM-Daewoo-built models sold mostly outside North America.
The radiator grille is split horizontally, with curved clear glass headlamps and the company’s trademark ‘bow-tie’ logo becomes a styling feature in itself, while at the rear, new clear glass lamp lenses are used.
The appearance of the new model, which will replace the Kalos here, echoes some of the styling cues seen on the WTCC Ultra concept shown at Paris last year.
Inside, the Aveo has a new, much higher class cabin, with soft-touch quality plastics and improved fabrics throughout.
Two petrol engines will be offered at launch – a new 1.2-litre unit developing 84PS, and a 98PS 1.4-litre, which will be available with optional automatic transmission.
