Kia Motors Corporation will stage the world unveiling of its redesigned Magentis/Optima four-door sedan at Frankfurt on 13 September.

Designed in Korea, USA and Europe, and sharing its platform with the new Sonata made by parent company Hyundai, the Magentis is the latest model in the complete regeneration of Kia’s product lines over the last four years.

Kia sees the new car, which is longer, wider and higher than the previous model, on an extended 2,720 mm wheelbase, as a strong challenger for D-segment sales world-wide. It is 4,735 mm long, 1,805 mm wide and 1,480 mm tall.

Available safety equipment will include ABS (now mandatory in the EU) and ESP stability control, rear parking sensors, front, side and curtain airbags, and active (anti-whiplash) front seat head restraints – depending on model and market. The Magentis will also have a fully comprehensive three-year warranty in Europe.

The new Magentis will be available with a two-litre diesel engine in Europe, as well as two petrol engines – two-litre I-4 and 2.7-litre V6.
