Nissan Europe is claiming a sales record for September after selling 72,419 vehicles, up 45.6% year on year.


Sales rose 8.1% to 445,059 units in the nine-month January to September period.


Nissan France sales rose 41.1% to 5,857 units in September and year-to-date (YTD) results are up 10% to 39,121.


In Germany, Nissan hiked sales 40.9% to 6,294 units last month but YTD volume was up just 0.5% to 44,128.


Italian September sales of 5,763 were up 20.4% but YTD volume has fallen 19.5% to 46,104.

In Russia, with year-on-year comparisons made against a very low base, Nissan sold 4,036 units in September, up 61.1% from last year. From January to September 2005, sales in Russia rose 73.6% to 32,905 units.


In Spain, where it builds its new Navara pickup and Pathfinder SUV, Nissan sold 7,402 units in September, up 56.5% year on year. YTD sales rose 14% to 55,983.


Here in the UK, September sales were up 30.6% to 21,164 while YTD colume rose 9.1% to 88,027 units.


The UK-built Micra was, as usual, the top selling Nissan in Europe last month – 23,786 (up 47%) and 134,601 (+4%) YTD.


“We benefited from some positive market conditions,” Nissan Europe spokesman Gilles Gautherot told just-auto. “Our product launches [Murano, Navara, Pathfinder and the updated Micra] are starting to pay off.”


He added that Russia, Ukraine and Nordic markets “contributed significantly” to the September result.
