Renault chairman Louis Schweitzer is stepping down after 17 years heading the French automaker.

He was chairman and CEO until 2005 and was then named non executive chairman.


Schweitzer’s term will end with the AGM on 6 May next year when he will be replaced by current chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn who will take on the role of board chairman as well.


Renault also plans to appoint an independent director with “broad international experience”.
