Renault has given its volume-selling European C-class Mégane’s model line a mid-life facelift and a revised range of Euro 4 emissions-compliant engines.
The diesel range has been expanded with the introduction of the 150hp version of the latest 2.0 dCi unit and the inclusion of a particulate filter for the 1.9 dCi unit, whose power output has been upped to 130hp. The diesel range has also been extended to include the 85hp and 105hp versions of the 1.5 dCi unit, an engine Renault shares with European Nissans.
The cost of modest styling changes appears to have been kept to a minimum – most observers will need to see old (introduced for the 2003 model year) and new cars side by side to pick the new headlamps, grille and front bumper, with no obvious sheet metal alterations.
Rear light clusters are now translucent with parallel horizontal elements but only some versions get a new back bumper.
Other changes include new interior trim and extra or wider availability of gadgetry such as parking sensors, rain and light sensors, climate control, flat blade windscreen wipers and an active carbon cabin filter.
