A major Renault union says it will watch carefully new chief operating officer Carlos Tavares’ responsibilities with regard to the development of French sites.
Renault announced the appointment of Tavares as number two to CEO Carlos Ghosn yesterday (31 May), but the CFE-CGC union says it will be looking at more than good intentions.
“Among the missions entrusted to him [Tavares], the one corresponding to the development of French sites will particularly occupy the attention of the CFE-CGC, which will ensure these commitments do not stay under the chapter of good intentions,” said a union statement.
“For the CFE-CGC, this not the end of the ‘Renault affair’ but a new page that has just been turned with the nomination of M Tavares as COO of Renault operations.”
Tavares was appointed as COO following the so-called Renault spy affair earlier this year in which three sacked executives were completely cleared of any wrongdoing.
Former COO Patrick Pelata offered his resignation last month but will be offered a post within the Renault-Nissan alliance.
