Renault has presented quality awards to its top suppliers.

Odile Desforges, senior vice president, purchasing and chairman and managing director of Renault-Nissan Purchasing Organization (RNPO), and Yann Vincent, senior vice president, quality, presented the Renault Supplier Quality Awards to 10 parts and service suppliers recently.

The awards recognize the performance and the outstanding activities of suppliers in quality terms and are intended to reinforce the motivation of all suppliers to reach their goals, said Renault in a statement.

The three service suppliers and the seven parts suppliers selected were:

D. Trois Maquettes Prototypes Automobiles (Pininfarina group) – design

Eurotek Trebnje – transport services

Horiba – test equipment

Hirschvogel Umformtechnik – gearbox components

Sanden – compressors

Diehl Metall Stiftung & Co – Diehl Metall Schmiedetechnik – synchroniser rings

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation – alternator / starter

EMARC – door frames

Kartek Corporation – stamping parts

Mann+Hummel Brasil – filters

The selection criteria vary according to the type of purchasing. For vehicle and powertrain parts, suppliers are selected on the quality of incoming parts at Renault factories, the ability to react and solve problems encountered in plants, and their performance in customer satisfaction.

For service suppliers, the results of the ‘quality supply contracts’ quotation, based on questionnaires filled throughout the purchasing process, were the main criteria.

The French automaker has made quality a clear strategic priority and it is the first commitment of the Renault Commitment 2009 plan.
