Renault has started production of its Kangoo van-based passenger carrying model in Malaysia.
Tailored to the Malaysian market, the Kangoo is assembled by Renault’s local partner, TC Euro Cars Sdn. Bhd (TCEC), at its plant in Kuala Lumpur with a production target of 2,000 units for sales in Malaysia and export to neighbouring countries.
TCEC became Renault’s partner in June 2003 and has since been responsible for the distribution of vehicles and the brand’s after-sales business in Malaysia.
TCEC is a subsidiary of Tan Chong Motor Holding Berhad (TCMH), which assembles and sells Nissan models under the terms of an agreement signed over 45 years ago.
Since it was launched in October 1997, over 1.6 million units of the Kangoo have been produced in group plants in France, Morocco and Argentina.
