Renault’s new Mégane II and Vel Satis have joined the company’s Laguna II as holders of the Euro NCAP maximum five-star safety rating and were also ranked “best in class” in their respective market segments.
Renault claims it now has the safest range of cars in the European automotive industry.
With a score of 33.12 points out of 37 , Vel Satis is said to be the safest saloon in the European executive-car segment and a score of 33.10 out of 37 means the Mégane II is the first C-segment vehicle to achieve this level of performance.
The assessment criteria adopted by Euro NCAP, for front impact in particular, cover over 80% of accident scenarios that actually occur on the road.
After the test impacts the cabins of both the Mégane II and Vel Satis were totally intact with no intrusion.
