The Renault-Nissan alliance sold a record 8.3m vehicles in 2013, making it fourth largest global automaker.

As reported today on just-auto, Nissan said it sold 5.1m units worldwide in 2013, up 3.3% year on year, while Renault reported earlier it sold 2.63m vehicles last year.

The combined alliance grouping sold 8.3m vehicles last year, including sales by Russian affiliate AvtoVAZ, the Economic Times of India said, putting it behind Toyota, General Motors and Volkswagen.

Toyota said recently it sold a record 9.98m vehicles in 2013, ahead of GM which sold 9.71m cars last year while Volkswagen booked sales of 9.5m units.
